Main goal of the project (project No. NPAD-2021/10138) was to evaluate opportunities and needs of developing and establishing the Folk High Schools in Baltic countries and build the fundamentals for a strong partnership between institutions with experience in adult learning across Nordic and Baltic countries. The cooperating project involved 6 innovative partners from Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, and Iceland.
Together partners delivered a research, that aimed to evaluate what impact Folk High Schools creates in partner countries, what are different models of learning and school management. In order to get broad understanding 2 study visits to Sweden and Iceland Folk High Schools were organized. According this data possible models were designed and together with educational and relevant institutions experts evaluated that potential Lithuania and Estonia has in implementing it.
During the project, partners prepared two documents:
1. Data analysis on social and economical impact in the countries with Folk High Schools; evaluation of expected benefits for Lithuanian education system based on previous statistics.
2. Action plan for establishing the first Folk High Schools in Lithuania and Estonia.
Philosophy of Folk High School Final, research and future plans was presented across educational sector institutions. On organisation level the project strengthened the international cooperation between Nordic/Baltic countries and built strong partnership in the field of non-formal education.

Innovators valley – from the very beginning, Innovators’ valley has been engaged in non-formal education and youth work- with a vision of becoming the best non-formal education space in Lithuania. Since 2015 more than 70 educational events have taken place in the organisation every year.
National institute for social integration – the organisation was established in 2009 and develops and applies social innovations that help integrate people from a variety of vulnerable social groups. The Institute has brought together a professional team of experts, that implements 6 programs and developing new ones.
Väddö Folkhögskola – Väddö Folk High School is the oldest Folk High School in the Stockholm area, offering a wide range of different courses. The school was founded in 1879 and is open for Swedish nationals and foreigners over 18 years old.
Sodžiaus meistrai – Vocational school „Sodžiaus meistrai“ encourages young people through giving them the possibility to choose the specialty, which motivates, inspires and encourages to proceed and create. For 18-year the school has been focused in teaching young people and in integrating them into the labor market.
Lýðskólinn á Flateyri – Flateyri Folk School is a unique educational institution based in Iceland. It is a non-formal residential school offering learning opportunities for students over 18 years old in two distinct programmes taught in Icelandic language.
Omanäolise kooli arenduskeskus – The organisation has been running since 1997 and focuses on schools improvement projects mainly with teacher training, quality assurance of schools, professional communication and developing innovative teaching methods in schools and universities.
